S@S Tryouts

(Sat, March 22 from 3-5pm pst and Sun, March 23 from 2-4pm pst)

 

These tryouts will be held over two sessions (about 2 hours each). Those that pass will be put on the S@S stone as a "Sidekick". If you do poorly but show good potential/personality you may be able to attempt joining at a later time.

The Pickup place will be announced earlier in the day on March 22. The gate from pickup will open at 2pm EXACTLY. If you're not there when we gate or not fully prepared as detailed below, then you will not be able to participate. ("If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late. If you're late, don't bother coming" - stolen quote from Reality TV show)

 

 

Preparation

 

- Each person will use their PK character only. The character MUST have, regardless of template, 90+ magery, 80+ resist, and meditation+char.intelligence=200+. Lower meditation + intelligence may be acceptable but will need approval. Events will be held on Felucca due to red characters.

- To keep you from burning millions of gp from multiple deaths with item insurance and to standardize equipment you may only use the following items:

a. Armor: Tailor made Spined/Horned/Barbed armor only will be allowed. Characters with Parry may use a blacksmith made shield from REGULAR ingots or a channeling shield, as long as the channeling shield has no other positive attributes than a total of 3% added to resistances. No robes or other clothing will be allowed so we can see that this rule is followed.

b. Weapons: Blacksmith made weapons with REGULAR ingots using a regular hammer only or Fletcher made archery items. The only exception to this is that Channeling weapons ARE allowed, but they must be within the limitations below:

i. Damage increase modifier must be 10% or less

ii. Additions to resistances must add to 5% or less

iii. No leeching attributes

iv. No spell percentages (ie. Harm 24%, etc)

v. No area effects (ie. Hit Energy Area 10%)

vi. Hit chance increase must be 5% or less

vii. Swing Speed increase must be 10% or less

(any question if the weapon is legal, send to event handler)

c. Equipment

- Full potion use is allowed except in the case of the 1v1 duels as detailed below.

- Bolas are allowed

- Trapped pouches, poison darts, or other ways of dealing with paralyzation are allowed.

d. Items: A ring and bracelet of your choice WILL be allowed. There are NO other magic items allowed however (ie bless capes, earrings, channeling shields for non-parryers, etc)

 

 

Events

 

1. Pre-Tryout interview - Quick series of questions (10 minutes or less) to gauge playing philosophy. Contact event handler (currently Absolute Zero) whenever you're ready.

2. Group fighting - Will be 2v2, 3v3, etc depending on # of people trying out. Very moderate running will be allowed (mounts are allowed). No pets can be used offensively, but other than that there are no restrictions outside of the ones given under Preparation (ie. hiding is fine, etc)

3. Mismatch fighting - Depending on #'s involved, sides will either be 2v1, 3v2, 4v2, etc. An area large enough for some running will be used (mounts are allowed). Fights will be to the death. No restrictions outside of the ones given under Preparation (ie. hiding).

4. 1v1 Duels

- 5 potions of your choice will be allowed.

- Hiding is not allowed

- Summoning spells aren't allowed (revenants, ev's, etc).

* Note: For those anxious about this event due to a pk template not built for duelling under these restrictions, keep in mind that those things will be considered. We will be more concerned about how you handle yourself with your template under the restrictions given, not whether you win or lose. Defensive/non-duelling templates will be expected to do better with 2. and 3.
