Two men on vacation in the rockies decide they want to go hiking and stop by a local outfitter
to purchase the equipment they will need. As they are paying for their goods, they see a box of
small bells by the register. Naturally, they ask what the bells are for.
"They scare bears
off," replied the cashier, "you put them on your gear and the bears hear you coming and avoid
you."
"Bears?" asks one of the hikers, "I didn't even think about bears. Give me a few bells,
too."
"Sure thing," says the cashier. "You know how to tell if there are bears around, right?"
"No, not really."
"Well, you look for their droppings," said the cashier, pulling out some
pictures. "This picture here is of black bear droppings. This one is brown bear droppings."
"Okay," says the hiker, "but what about grizzlies?"
"Thats easy. They look just like the black
bears, but with little bells in them."
